Sadguru Sidh Baba Saidas ji was born in 15th century at village Tigari in Gujranwalan district of Punjab (currently part of Pakistan). Baba ji was a divine personality and had worshipped Lord Vishnu for the many previous births. Lord Vishnu took Avtaar in Baba ji’s house as his 5th son Baba Ramanand ji.
Baba ji used to do Tapasya in a nearby jungle. Before Avtaar of Ramanand ji, Baba Saidas ji ordered his devotee Baddo to built a village in the jungle. Soon, Lord Vishnu came to earth as Avtaar Ramanand ji. The eloped pond “Brahmasar Sarovar” was also rediscovered by Avtaar Ramanand ji and named “Tomri”. Later on attaining age of 12 years he immersed in the Pond and dig his stick “Beri” in the mid of the pond.
Glory of Baba Saidas ji and Avtaar Ramanand ji spread everywhere. The same Holy place became a Tirath-Sthal (Pilgrimage) where number of devotees from various districts used to visit on the annual fair “Mela Yagya”. This day was announced as Government holiday for Gujrawalan District at that time. . It is believed that Shree Guru Nanak Dev ji also met Sadguru Sidh Baba Saidasji. He was very impressed with Baba ji’s spirituality and gentleness. They stayed together for few days and shared their experience. That meeting has been described by Baba ji as –
नानकदेव तहां चली आई, रूप कलंदर का तनी आये |
साईंदास तबी मनि मुस्काए, नानक हमको देखन आये |
हम तुम एक नगर के भेदी, इहाँ कहवो नानक बेदी |
नानकदास कहे मुस्काई, साईंदास तुम धन कमाई |
चर्चा करी भक्ति की भारो, बहुरो उचरियो नाम मुरारी |
सुखमनी सदरि नानक गायो, ज्ञान रतन साईंदास सुनायो |
जुगल बाती परस्पर कीनी, सैलो लई कडाही दीनी |
Nanakdev tahan chali aayi, rup kalandar ka tani aaye
Saidas tabi mani muskaye, Nanak hamko dekhan aaye
Ham tum ek nagar ke bhedi, Ehan kahawo nanak bedi
Nanakdas kahe mukai, Saidas tum dhan kamai
Charcha kari bhakti ki bharo, bahuro uchariyo naam murari
Sukhmani sadri Nanak gaayo, gyan ratan Saidas sunayo
Jugal baati paraspar kini, sailo lei kadahi dini
